Rafeya Hashmi

Networking Engagement Co-op

Education
Candidate for BS in Health Science, Northeastern University (Expected Graduation in Spring 2025)

Rafeya (she/her/hers) joined the Social Innovation Forum (SIF) in July 2023 as the first Networking Engagement co-op from Northeastern University. In this role, she will work closely with the Director of Networking Engagement and the Funder Education Program Manager to assist with organizing and facilitating events and workshops, researching and building relationships with potential partners, and developing strategies for effective programming. She will also assist with communications and be responsible for data collection, management, and analysis.

Rafeya is currently in her third year at Northeastern University, pursuing a Bachelors of Science degree in Health science with a minor in Data Science. Rafeya has always had an interest in health sciences and a natural passion for social justice, both of which grew as a result of global events in the years leading up to the beginning of college. During her time at Northeastern, her coursework in public health and sociology led her to desire a deeper understanding of the issues in Greater Boston, and how to apply herself to solving these issues beyond academic parameters. Along with several classmates, Rafeya led a community engagement program in collaboration with the Massachusetts Horticultural Society and Boston Public Schools last year, which deepened her interests in community engagement and development, and inspired her to join SIF. Rafeya is very excited to learn more about the local nonprofit and philanthropic sector as a co-op student at SIF.
