Katherine (she/her/hers) joined the Social Innovation Forum (SIF) in June of 2021 as SIF's Strategy & Operations Co-op through Northeastern University's Cooperative Education program. In this role, Katherine is responsible for assisting the Strategy and Operations department in building the Social Innovation Forum's capacity across a variety of areas from organizational planning, to evaluation and human resources. Additionally she will be assisting the team in identifying and implementing new tools to support the work and growth of the organization as well as learning about a wide range of pressing social issues, both national and Massachusetts-specific.
Katherine is currently a Human Services major at Northeastern with a minor in Social Entrepreneurship and Innovation and an independent specialization in Cross-Sector Social Change and Innovation. She is particularly interested in exploring the intersection of the private, public and nonprofit sector and the ways in which partnerships involving resource allocation, skills/knowledge exchanges, and beyond, can lead to more effective social impact solutions. Katherine's previous experience with nonprofit work includes volunteering for and taking on leadership roles in Northeastern's chapter of Peer Health Exchange, an organization that empowers teenagers to make healthy decisions through a skills-based health curriculum taught in public schools nationwide by college students through a "near peer model". She is excited to learn more about nonprofit work through SIF. Additionally, having been born and raised in Brazil, she is looking forward to learning more about the communities reached through SIF's work and the nonprofit sector in the Greater Boston area.
