While screaming into the void can be therapeutic, it’s demoralizing when you feel that way about your website.
Those of us who work at nonprofits spend a lot of our time writing. But many of the techniques we use for writing grant proposals or funder reports don’t translate to writing for the web.
In this hands-on workshop, we’ll explore the best ways to write for how people actually read on the web.
Participants will learn and apply best practices for:
- Replacing jargon-laden text with plain language
- Writing for linguistically diverse audiences
- Ensuring content is accessible to visitors using screen readers and other assistive technologies
- Structuring content for search engines and AI tools
Who should participate:
This workshop is for nonprofit professionals who write copy for their organization’s website and other online channels, such as event pages and social media posts.
Facilitators: Clayton Dewey and Johanna Bates
